Your privacy at a glance

We use your enquiry details to understand your request and respond. Our website currently has no optional analytics, advertising or embedded-map cookies. The cookie notice simply remembers that you have seen it for up to 180 days. You can revisit cookie settings at any time.

1. Who we are

J&D Legal Assistance Services LLP is responsible for the personal information collected through this website. We provide legal assistance, litigation support, housing-related support and assistance with representation and proceedings for businesses, organisations and individuals.

This policy covers the website, its consultation form and the J&D Assist enquiry feature. Any work we agree to undertake may be subject to separate engagement terms and further information about how case-related data is handled.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide: your name, email address, phone number and a brief description of your matter. J&D Assist may also include the enquiry category you select, such as a business matter, housing dispute or litigation support.

Enquiry administration: the form used, the page address from which the enquiry was sent, form start and submission times, and an enquiry reference. We use this information to route messages, respond and help prevent misuse.

Technical information: your browser sends network information, including an IP address and request headers, when it contacts the web server. Hosting systems may keep access, error and security logs. The enquiry endpoint uses a hashed version of the requesting IP address and submission times for server-side rate limiting. This is not a browser tracking cookie.

The online forms require a name, email address, phone number and short description. Providing an enquiry is voluntary; you can also contact us by telephone or email. Missing or inaccurate contact details may prevent us from responding.

Please keep your initial enquiry brief. Do not send identity documents, medical information, criminal-offence information or detailed confidential case material through these general enquiry forms. Contact the team first to agree an appropriate way of sharing sensitive information.

3. How we use your information

Our website enquiry process is used to understand the support you are seeking, route your request to the team, contact you, send an acknowledgement and consider whether we may be able to assist.

PurposeRelevant basis
Responding to an enquiry or consultation requestTaking steps at your request before entering into a possible contract, where applicable. Otherwise, our legitimate interests in understanding and responding to requests for assistance.
Routing enquiries and keeping a record of communicationsOur legitimate interests in administering requests, maintaining continuity and dealing with follow-up questions or complaints.
Protecting the website and preventing abusive submissionsOur legitimate interests in operating a secure and reliable enquiry service.
Remembering that the cookie notice has been seenOur legitimate interests in respecting your settings and avoiding repeated notices. The preference cookie serves only this essential purpose.
Responding to a binding legal requirementCompliance with a legal obligation, where such an obligation applies.

Submitting an enquiry is not a request to join a marketing list. The website forms do not include newsletter or advertising sign-up. We do not treat a cookie-notice acknowledgement as consent to marketing or to unrelated uses of your information.

Where a matter requires special-category or criminal-offence data, an appropriate lawful basis and any additional legal condition must be identified before that information is requested or used as part of the agreed service.

4. How J&D Assist works

J&D Assist is an on-page enquiry feature with selectable matter categories and a contact form. The information you submit is sent to our team through the same enquiry service used by the main consultation form.

The current website feature does not send your message to an external AI model or make an automated decision about your legal position. A member of the team reviews your enquiry. It does not replace advice from a qualified legal professional, create a professional engagement or confirm that J&D is able to act.

5. Service providers and information sharing

Our team: your enquiry is shared with the people who need it to review and respond to your request. Where further professional involvement is appropriate, the scope and responsibility for any work will be explained separately.

Transactional email: the website uses Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc.) to send the enquiry email to our team and an acknowledgement to you. The service processes email addresses, message content and delivery information needed to transmit those emails. Our website hosting and business email services also process information in providing their services.

Website imagery: the homepage includes a decorative image served from images.unsplash.com. Your browser contacts that provider when loading the image, which makes technical request information such as your IP address available to it. This image request is not switched off by the cookie-notice controls. See the Unsplash privacy policy for information about the provider's practices.

Information may also be disclosed where required by law, or where necessary and lawful to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim. We do not use the website enquiry forms to publish your information.

6. International transfers

Some service providers process information outside the United Kingdom. Resend states that its primary processing operations are in the United States. Its published Data Processing Addendum describes its transfer arrangements, including standard contractual clauses with the UK Addendum for relevant UK transfers.

Hosting, email delivery and externally served imagery can involve international processing. Contact us for details of the arrangements and safeguards applicable to your information, or to request information about obtaining a copy of relevant safeguards. Any restricted transfer must have an appropriate legal transfer mechanism.

7. How long information is kept

Website enquiries and correspondence: we retain information for as long as needed to respond, deal with follow-up questions and administer the enquiry. Where a record needs to be kept after an enquiry closes, the period is determined by the nature of the matter, the last meaningful contact, any need to deal with a complaint or legal claim, and applicable legal or professional obligations. Contact us for the period applicable to your enquiry.

Agreed client work: where an enquiry becomes an engagement, relevant information may form part of a client record. The applicable case-record arrangements should be explained as part of that engagement rather than inferred from this website cookie policy.

Security and delivery records: these are kept according to the need to detect misuse, investigate problems and maintain the service, together with the relevant hosting, email and backup settings. The enquiry rate limiter operates over a ten-minute request window; this is not a statement that the underlying server records are automatically deleted after ten minutes.

Cookie preference: the browser cookie described below expires after up to 180 days, unless it is deleted sooner or you actively save the setting again. It does not contain your name, contact details or enquiry.

8. Cookies and your settings

A cookie is a small piece of information stored by your browser. The current website application uses only the essential preference cookie below. It does not configure optional analytics, advertising or embedded-map cookies, or use local storage for a tracking profile.

Only the essential preference cookie is configured, so no optional-cookie consent is requested. Acknowledging it does not enable analytics, advertising or any future third-party service. The consultation form and J&D Assist remain available without acknowledging the notice.

You can open cookie settings at any time using the footer link. Choose Forget this browser's saved choice to remove the preference cookie and show the notice again. Any future introduction of a service requiring consent must be explained before it is enabled, with appropriate controls for the relevant purposes. A saved acknowledgement of this notice does not authorise future tracking.

9. Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances and the basis for processing, you may ask for access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, erasure, restriction of processing or a portable copy of information you have provided. These rights are subject to the conditions and exceptions in applicable data protection law.

Where we rely on consent for a particular use, you may withdraw it at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing. Contact clientcare@jdlas.co.uk to make a request. We may need sufficient information to verify your identity before releasing information or acting on the request.

Your right to object: where we rely on legitimate interests, you can object to the processing on grounds relating to your particular situation. You can also object to the use of your personal data for direct marketing at any time.

10. Security and other websites

The enquiry service includes validation, anti-spam checks and server-side rate limiting. These measures help protect the service, but no online form or email system can guarantee absolute security. Please use the general enquiry forms for a brief initial outline and agree a suitable method with the team before sharing sensitive case information.

Links to other websites take you to services with their own privacy information. The cookie controls on this website do not control your browser, email provider or another website you choose to visit.

11. Questions and complaints

For privacy questions, to exercise your rights or to raise a concern, contact J&D Legal Assistance Services LLP at clientcare@jdlas.co.uk or call 07875 403975.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator. You do not need our permission to do so.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this notice when the website, service providers or information-handling arrangements change. The latest version is published on this page with its update date. Where a new purpose requires consent, it must be explained and consent obtained before that processing starts.
